I guess you've got an old windows.inc file. Get a newer version of MASM32.

perhaps you should get a grasp of the basics? or perhaps download an already compiled ftp client ;)

My version of masm is 6.14.8444
Is that enough?

masm!=masm32
Masm is the assembler, masm32 is the package Hutch & others made around it, download the latest version from www.movsd.com.

What's wrong with this ITEM???

old zenmaster say: "don't try to run before you can walk"

you should look into Iczelion's tutorials and go through some basic asm tutorials so you can find out what's wrong with it.
(hint: the assembler doesn't know what 'item' is)

heh. i run into assembling problems all the time /w other ppls source. that's why i usually just run their executable(s). usually can't be bothered unpack stuff and then delete it afterwards. and then sometimes, directories are hardcoded in, etc. (i'm a culprit of this on some of my "earlier" asm programs)

hardcoded paths. ick.

This was in the source which you give me. And I try to understand them! (I' allready read the Iczelion's tutorial's and RFC 959.)
For the beggining I'm trying to make exe file!
But this ITEM! What's wrong with it?
P.S. Sorry 4 my English :(

as I said it's probably not completed. Just something I found in a bunch of unsorted (old) source.
contact the author, his e-mailaddress is in the source.

he will be able to help you out faster :|

zzz,

I dont have that error. My unmodified win32.inc looks like

TVINSERTSTRUCT STRUCT
hParent dd ?
hInsertAfter dd ?
union

itemex TVITEMEX <>
item TV_ITEM <>

ends

TVINSERTSTRUCT ENDS

and member "item" causes no errors.

So there is possibly a bug in your (new?) windows.inc from MASM32. Two reasons may be:

1. structure TV_ITEM not defined (very, very unlikely)
2. "item" is (re)defined as an equate in windows.inc now. (bad and very unlikely as well :) )

I used MASM32 v7.0 to compile

Hi,
Last nite I tried to assemble the source/ make necessary .lib files but, I think some of the flies are missing. I also downloaded it at:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?grou_id=51132&release_id=136852
(Ninja ftp)
The .exe is available for download also.
I emailed the author to find out if he has an update.

Hi, I have fixed the source, or if you to lazy to download it again just rename TV_ITEM to TVITEM.
Posted on 2003-03-14 10:03:51 by ante
Hi ante,

it structure TV_ITEM has been renamed to TVITEM in MASM32 V8 that would be a bit annoying. Is that so?
Posted on 2003-03-14 15:46:07 by japheth
Yes, it has been renamed. I guess it?s microsofts new naming conventions.
