Cualquiera habla espanol aqui? Estoy tomando a Espanol 4 (en los Estados Unidos), y necesito encontrar y estudiar palabras y frases de mi occupacion futura. Es dificil descubrir las frases correctas cuando estoy utilizando solamente un diccionario Espanol/Ingles...que sea porque quisiera su ayuda

Espero que usted puede entender lo que estoy diciendo (estoy utilizando un traductor del Internet, pero yo se el no traduce siempre correctamente) :/

Muchas gracias para cualquier ayuda.

(Approximate English translation: I need to find some words and phrases related to my career for my Spanish 4 class, so I was wondering if anyone knowing Spanish can help me out with some computer programming-related words and phrases in Spanish. I would use a Spanish-English dictionary, but it's hard to find the correct words and phrases using only that. I hope that you can understand my Spanish...I'm using an Internet translator to help, but they don't always translate correctly :/ Thanks for any help)

---

P.S. - Necesito 20 palabras y 5 frases, mas o menos. (English: I need 20 words and 5 phrases, more or less)

Mhm... I don't think anyone here is willing to do your homework... (not for free, anyway  )
Perhaps you could star on your own, post what you have made here, and then we can help you?

PS: No offense, but... if you needed an Internet translator for that, what did you learn at Spanish 1, 2 & 3 ???

Dunno what he learn in spanish 1,2,3, but I can say that I dont understand completely englush, only when I start posting here, and reading more things, I start my real course of english language.

The correct translation of this:
estoy utilizando un traductor del Internet, pero yo se el no traduce siempre correctamente

estoy utilizando un traductor del Internet, pero yo se que no traduce correctamente siempre.

I think i know spanish ;).
Yo pienso que conosco el espa?ol.

Si necesitas hablar de algo en espa?ol, puedes probar tu espa?ol con migo, pero a veces no me conecto a internet en d?as, o a veces en semanas o meses, soy un poco inconstante en estos aspectos, hechale ganas al espa?ol, talvez, despues aprendas unas cosillas especiales del lenguage, que tal vez no se acostumbra en tu lenguage natal, o que tal vez, solo es de conocimiento casi general en M?xico, saludos.

Qvasimodo:
As far as homework goes, yes, I could do it on my own, but the Spanish-English dictionaries I have don't give translations for programming jargon ;) I thought I could save some time by going to someone who knows the correct terminology. After all, "el gato tiene tu lengua?" means "cat got your tongue?" literally, but the phrases don't have the same meaning.

And as far as using an internet translator...well, in short, a dictionary wasn't handy  Plus, a translator can help with getting the correct verb tenses and stuff, too. Mostly I just used it to verify what I had already written. (I am going to translate this message using only a dictionary...I'll let you judge whether I learned anything over the past three years ;) )

hgb & lgg2:
Thanks for those phrases..some of those are very interesting...changos

What I am looking for is more like programming terminology, though...

For example, when talking to another Spanish-speaking computer geek do you use English terms like "load effective address" and "central processing unit", or do you have Spanish terms for those?

No cualquiera habla espa?ol aqui, la mayoria habla otros lenguages, tienen lenguas natales distintas, pero el lenguage que se usa "por regla", es el ingles.

I think I wrote it wrong...I meant to say, "Who speaks (as in knows) Spanish here?"

Feel free to correct my mistakes...it's how I learn :)

Tradducion aproximado:
------

Qvasimodo:

Me creo que escrib? la frase incorrecta, quiero decir "Who speaks (as in knows) Spanish here?"

Por favor, corregir los errores (erroros?)...necesito aprender mas :)

P.S. - Aussi j'etude francais un ans, mais je n'ai pas une "dictionary" francais/anglais (I forgot the word... ). Mais je vais prendre un ans deux (a second year)

I took spanish in high school.

I've forgotten every single bit of it.

The translation is quite good. Only thing that's wrong is the verb tenses, but I guess it's the toughest part... (I had the same problem when trying to learn french, even when it's so similar to spanish ;) ).
As for the programming jargon... well, don't you think that we spanish-speaking people are so well organized :) Most of it are just literal translations of english words, even when it doesn't make much sense:

mouse: rat?n
interface: interfase
monitor: monitor (duh!)
speakers: parlantes (but not habladores ;) )
assembler: ensamblador
firewall: cortafuegos (go figure this one  )

Besides, you'll run into trouble trying to find a single translation for each term. Phrases like "load effective address" don't have a translation as far as I know (maybe "direcci?n efectiva de carga"?). "Central processing unit" would be "Unidad central de procesamiento", as you can see it's just a translation. That's why if you go to spanish speaking programming sites, one out of three words is in english anyway

As for the dictionary, you're right, most of them are not updated. You can try the online ones, though.
Why don't you post what you have already done? I'll be glad to help you out. :)

Ehh...well...so far I don't have any work to post :o

You're right; I should do the work on my own first and then verify it here. I was trying to save some time by skipping a step (I usually have this problem when programming, too  )

Give me a day or two and I'll have a list for you to check :)

(I don't have time tonight to translate...too bad, I need the practice)

Oh my friend. Sorry to hear that!
Every lanuage you learn is a precious gem that you need to take care of.
It is not too late, it is still with you. Hidden and dormant in some place of your mind.
