how does PANDN work?

basically is it a way to negate based on a filter

i.e if i have ARGB pixel word
then if i did PANDN with say 00FF0000 will i get get Red negated (and the rest normal?)

If I recall correctly it will negate the second operand, and then perform the and operation...
So then you would have to put red in the proper operand, and then you can get negated red masked out, yes.
You'd have to check the Intel Instruction Reference, I'm not 100% sure.
