My assembly professor has asked us to write a port scanner in assembly. Basically we have to scan all of the ports and tell which one are open and give the user an option of closing any port the user wants. The problem is we have not learned enough in class to do this. We have to use pure assembly no high level stuff. I want to know how would we get access to ports with assembly.......help please, any links or reference would be greatly appreciated.

a "port scanner"? or do you mean something that lists the active connections/ports, and provides the option to terminate a connection? In that case, look into GetTcpTable/GetUdpTable, and SetTcpEntry().
