does anyone know how to use a bitmap brush to print text that is textured onto a window? sorta like how doom had the red letters that used the bitmap? except i want to use a random bitmap to apply to the font not a predefined bitmap that has all the characters on it.

You'll need one or two additional DCs,
make DC1 all black, and print text on it with white textcolor. Then, use SRCAND to combine the bitmap and text over DC2 - the black areas will stay, white will be filled with the bitmap. Then, using DC1 as mask, BitBlt over the destination DC (use the trick to blt transparent bitmaps)
