Does anyone know any simple and free HTTP server with SSL support (https) ?
I need to write a HTTP over SSL implementation and want something to test against.

I guess Apache?

It's a "simple" server, but it's free and should be relatively straightforward to install, both for windows and *u*x. I never set up HTTPS support for it, though, so don't know if that makes it difficult.

Ok, downloaded and installed apache without any problems in the blink of an eye. Although it took me about 20 minutes to install and configure mod_ssl.  :)

comrade, I'll check lighttpd next time i guess...

thank you all for suggestions.

Haha ouch, 20 minutes for ssl? What was difficult about it?

Compilation wasn't that smooth, the sample ssl.conf and httpd.conf required a lot of editing, and they really should have mentioned in the documentation about required OpenSSL dlls in windows\system32  :)
