Hello friends i am new to this forum although i was browsing the forum from last few days.I hope to get involved here for long time as I find this forum very good.Good luck  8)

Can you tell me is it possible to use s3m,mod,it,ax,xmz etc formats to integrate into resource files and if yes how to do that? What should be the api call?Secondly, is it possible for the sound to be played(obviously after association with my application) on third party machine who do not have necessary plugins installed to play such types of file formats

Any type of data can be included as a resource, you have only to use the RCDATA resource type and the binary image of the file will be added to your resources. As for playing a sound on a remote machine without the proper codec, I doubt it but others may correct me.

Well, I do not know for S3M, MOD and IT files, but XM modules can be played with MINIFMOD (http://www.fmod.org/files/minifmod170.zip) - both from external file and from resource

Thanks

You must have seen some applications which are just few kb in size but have very good and long integrated music.I know they have been compressed but even then there seems to be no question of mp3 or wav files. They must be s3m,xm,xmz,it etc and they play on remote computers also. How to do that ?

My library is not so small on size, but it works. You can try it if you like:

You may try this if you wish:
ftp://devel:devel@mickeyknox.no-ip.org/minifmod_asm_test.rar

I tried it (and the original "test" application in the MINIFMOD package) with some .S3M files, but most of them refused to play. Anyway, all XM modules I've tested played correctly

Thanks Nice link and nice xm files :)

So don't you have codec for s3m files or some other reason why s3m didn't played ?

No, it is not a matter of a "codec" or anything, because the minifmod IS the player for XM/S3M/IT/MOD - at leat it is written in one of the source files - Fmusic.c:

  FMUSIC Supports loading of
  - .MOD (protracker/fasttracker modules)
  - .S3M (screamtracker 3 modules)
  - .XM  (fasttracker 2 modules)
  - .IT  (impulse tracker modules)

Actually I tried several .IT files - they failed, a few .MOD files - failed, several .S3M files - most of them failed but one played correctly (this one: http://www.geocities.com/sebuko3000/cathedral.s3m).

Just 8Kb h**p://wasm.ru/src/4/ufmod.zip cool, isn't it...

7Kb is even better! Not to mention small bugfixes and a lot of new features: h**p://ufmod.sf.net

the minifmod IS the player for XM/S3M/IT/MOD

It is not. Only XM supported. Those comments inside the source files are outdated.

several .S3M files - most of them failed but one played correctly (this one: ***/cathedral.s3m).

It is an XM file.
