For servers, Gentoo.

For desktop, the latest Ubunutu :)

Slackware on my server@mum's place because, well, that's what I installed back then and it's been running since. FreeBSD on my server at home, because I wanted to play with it. Will probably move to/try out Gentoo once I get the money to throw together a proper fileserver.

For desktop? Windows :)

Gentoo on my laptop (don't have desktop computer  :D ). Gentoo between operating systems is like assembly language between programming languages. It can be customized very well, an it is very good for learning (my case).

I also have MSDOS6.22 and XP too installed, but I use primarily Gentoo.

I don't personally like GNU/Linux, I always prefered BSD systems myself. I currently have a desktop in the other room dual booting FreeBSD and DesktopBSD

I have never tried Linux except for a brief look at Knoppix.  Just before I came here I was thinking I might reinstall Windows on this box but put Linux on it first to play a while.  So I found this page and I've seen others like it.  Seems like Debian, Suse and Ubuntu would be my choice.  But my server is FreeBSD.
