When I want to create a DialogBox, I use the exported functions of user32.dll. But this time I want to create, delete or modify a database file preferably an access database (*.mdb). Is there such a dll which has exported functions such as ceating, modifying,... etc.  a database?

If Windows doesn't have such a dll, is there any other database? For example has mysql got such a dll?

Have a look at Iczelion's ODBC tutorials, and realize that it's no fun using ODBC - whether you code in a HLL or in Assembly.

www.sqlite.org has a C interface which is easy enough to use from assembly.

MySQL probably isn't suitable for what you want to do, since it requires setting up a server.

If you are looking for a desktop database, look at the ObjAsm32 DBase example.

Thank you. Sqlite is exactly what I need. Just a simple and small sqlite3.dll (325Kb) does all I want.

One more thing. Is there a dll which allows me to create an *.mdb file?

odbc32 is the very dll that allows you creating mdbs - no magic just SQLConfigDataSource function.

For *.mdb manipulation the best thing is to use DAO, I think. It is a set of COM objects. If you have MDAC prior to 2.6 installed, then you have DAO. If not, then try http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/ref/mdac/downloads/ (Jet downloads)
