Welcome on board.

You probably missed some important instructions in your source code, this is why the assembler complains. Could you post here your code?

well, i can, but the code is really simple, 13 rows only.
and i get an error on every row! besides, it works on another comp...
here's the code:
dseg : segment
dseg ends

cseg : segment
assume ds: dseg, cs: cseg

begin:
      mov ax, 0
      mov ax, 1
      dec ax
      mov ax 5
      xor ax, ax
      inc ax
cseg ends
end begin

MASM sourcecode typically begins with three compiler directives:

.486 ;or some other minimum cpu opcode set
.model tiny ;for DOS apps.. flat, stdcall for win32 apps
option casemap:none ; capital letters matter to us

and then the rest of your sourcecode...
