I am thinking about purchasing a new HP laptop computer with
a AMD Sempron Processor 3400+.  Will I be able to write assembly
language programs.  I currently have the Microsoft Assembler Version 6.14.8444.  I use the following:

.MODEL  FLAT,STDCALL
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks bobr

.586 means that is the minimum CPU that can support the instructions
that can be used/generated, so more advanced CPUs are more than sufficient.

.586 corresponds to a Pentium type CPU.
