Why not just make two infrared LEDs emit :)

btw, here's some 3D position-sensing fun: make an infrared emitter >20Hz, and connect two phototransistors to your soundcard's input. You can measure the distances now and triangulate :) (though 3 phototransistors are ultimately required for real 3D, and good half-angles of emitters and receivers)

I recall teaching him how to gain credits on arcade machines using the sparking device from a gas powered hot water system, I think we're not even but its still worth something?
Actually, lets be clear, this is more "how to use a Wii without a Sensor Bar device".
