Sometimes I turn off my monitor and got to thinking that it would be handy to be able to assign a 3 key shortcut to a Win 32 program that would shutdown the computer.

I did a search for key shortcut, but could not find anything addressing that.

Could that be done if I made sure that I did not use any reserved key combinations?

Winkey, U, U  :)

Or make an app that shuts-down the PC, add a shortcut to it on the start->Programs menu (not anywhere else), set the shortcut to be launched by ctrl+alt+<key>

Forcing a windows shutdown is pretty easy.
How you trigger it is open to debate.
Pressing a key combo is ONE way.
What about SAPI?
I like SAPI.
Its slow and crap, but its endlessly amusing.

Are you talking about the MS Speech program?

The one that requires VB?
What the hay, I am game. :-)

Could I get more details?
