I had no response from the XP newsgroup.

I am running XP Pro Sp3.

For some reason, I can no longer send faxes using the Windows Fax Service.

I have tried re-installing fax services and my printer.

Thanks.

Can you confirm that your modem is installed and working?

Haven you checked the logs?  System and Application?  Should give you some info as to why it is not working...

Hi - there's a good chance that you've inadvertently disabled a dependency.

Go to the Services applet (control panel) and find the Fax service you mentioned.
Stop the service.
Now get properties and enumerate the list of Dependency services.
Finally, make sure ALL the services which it depends apon are running.
Restart the service, and check whether the self-start method is appropriate.

This is what my log is showing.

Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the Fax service to connect.

The Fax service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
