i have another lil question. this one is more answerable. ok i'm making this program that. creates empty files. i have attached the c++ version (made myself =) ) and i'm trhying to convert it into asm version. how would i go about like prompting the user for a file name and process every character that they type onto the screen and into the filename where i have mov dx,FileName. i would be more precise but i'm still a lil slow with this stuff.

In the masm32 library file, there are 2 routines for console mode applications.

For output "Filename" use the StdOut function
For Input "test.dat" use the StdIn function

You'll have to define a buffer for the StdIn function, where the input will be put.

.data?
Buffer db 128 dup(?)

I changed the buffer size, I believe the max input can be 128 chars from the commandline.
