fumio: if your able to get the handle to your tooltip you need to set it to topmost also. the tooltip is most likely there, but its just hidden behind your dialog.

i ran into a similar problem when i had a window that i set as topmost. the listview tooltips were hidden underneath my window but luckily my tooltips were very long so they exended past my window. i was able to see a portion of it and thats how i spotted the problem.

invoke SetWindowPos,hTip,HWND_TOPMOST,0,0,0,0, SWP_SHOWWINDOW

Smurf thanks for the information. It works just fine now.
Incidentally, my program uses a tab interface and when I switched to a tab with longer tooltips I saw just as you did that the tooltips were being displayed behind my window.
