i figured i would start a thread just for bugs found.

Tested on Windows XP

bug: when opening asmedit then opening the resource editor im having problems reshowing asmedit when in the taskbar. asmedit wont even show unless i right click the taskbar and click maximize or restore.

possible bug: when settings styles for the main dialog im not able to enter my hex code and make it stay into the dwExStyle window. when i do set a number it decides to select the styles it wants to.

possible bug: im wondering why when i set the WS_EX_CLIENTEDGE and remove all the other settings why WS_EX_WINDOWEDGE keeps on showing backup. is this a default setting that just reverts back everytime?

Good idea, even after all of the testing on
different platforms some bugs still exist.

I'll get started on yours.

The Taskbar problem is fixed in AsmEdit and the
EXStyle and Style problems are fixed in ResEdit.

You can now enter the hex values manually and
the EXStyle is WYSIWYG, I overrode the windows
defaults.

Go to my Web Site and download the FixAsm.zip
and the FixRes.zip packages.

When I click on an item on the user code toolbar and then go to the quick code toolbar the tooltip is hidden behind the user code toolbar.

Taskbar problem:

Is the AsmEdit that is in the AsmEdit root
directory time stamped:

I had the exact same problem that you described
before I fixed the problem.

try removing the WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW from the dwExStyle and then play around with minimizing and such.

Like I said I had the same problem that you
described with the Taskbar on both Win98 and NT
until I made the changes to AsmEdit on 06-04-2002
and now it works fine.

I can open AsmEdit then open ResEdit press the
Min button, click once on AsmEdit on the Taskbar
and AsmEdit restores to it's original size.

I can open AsmEdit then open ResEdit click on
another program on the Taskbar, then click once
on AsmEdit on the Taskbar and AsmEdit restores to
it's original size.

Is the AsmEdit that is in the AsmEdit root
directory time stamped:
06/04/2002 13:18:26?

The Taskbar fix is in AsmEdit, not ResEdit.

Maybe the AsmEdit that you downloaded did not have
the fix in, try downloading it again, plus there's
a couple other changes to AsmEdit and ResEdit.

i have the latest version i downloaded and replaced the files i had. i even made sure they werent write protected or something.

you fixed the hex problem which was a problem in the older build i was using. so i downloaded the newer version patch and u fixed it.

as for the maximize/minimize problem you actually fixed it for the most part but there is still that problem i stated above when you remove that style the window doesnt want to come back up. when it is minimized is immediately goes into a pressed state in the taskbar which it isnt suppose to do. and when i press another tab it does become unpressed but then when i press it it doesnt work.

Maybe I'm getting a little confused (Easy for me to do).

I thought you were talking about clicking the
Minimize button on the AsmEdit Title bar after
ResEdit was opened, which creates your problem on
the Taskbar.

But in your last post you mentioned "when you remove that style".

So are you talking about creating a dialog in
ResEdit, then adding Minimize, Maximize buttons
and clicking on them?

Are you playing around with the dialog styles
when you create this problem?

im sorry let me start from scratch and describe how to reproduce the problem from scratch.

1. open AsmEdit

2. click on the menu ->tools ->resource editor ->open editor
3. click the the dialog tab on the resource builder
4. click on the draw a dialog toolbar button and draw a dialog
5. goto the ExStyle properties of the dialog that was just drawn
and remove the set bit to WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW so the hex
shows 00000000.
6. minimize the main AsmEdit window

you should now notice that the AsmEdit tab in the taskbar is pressed in, and it shouldnt be that way(minor observation). this is where the trouble begins and you wont be able to maximize or restore the window without right clicking on the tab in the tasbar and max/restoring that way.

To smurf:

Ok now we're both on the same page.

After playing around with it for awhile I was
able to duplicate your problem, plus I uncovered
another problem.

The xPos and yPos for the dialog gets changed to
zero.

I'm working on the problem and will keep you
posted.

Or you could do like my doctor used to tell me,
if it hurts when you do that don't do it.

I think I have fixed the:
AsmEdit>ResEdit>Dialog>Remove EXStyles>Minimize AsmEdit>Click on AsmEdit on the Taskbar problem.

I'm attaching a test ResEdit.

If it works I'll post it on my Web Site.

yep works like it should now. just a little anonying to me so i was wondering if you could get rid of the caption bar on the resource editor window?

also got some horid painting problems when trying to move the drawn dialog past its restricted area. like it i try moving it over the properties window or something which of course your not suppose to be able to, the dialog stops but where you move your pointers you can see a ghost flickering effect of the drawn dialog where you move the mouse. no biggy it doesnt effect much. just throwing that out there.

Hi,

Made some more fixes to AsmEdit, fixed the Bookmark
menu, etc., plus added some new features.

New features:

AsmEdit will now retain the Bookmarks for a file
if the file is part of a project that is in the
project list (Tree).

Comment block highlighting e.g.

comment^
1111111
2222222
3333333
^

Go to my Web Site for the latest FixAsm.zip.

When you load ResEdit from AsmEdit the ResEdit
Titlebar and Borders are removed it makes it look
better.

I can not duplicate the ghost flickering effect
that you mentioned using Win9x or NT.

You will need to download both:
FixAsm.zip and FixRes.zip

Hi All,

I made some minor bug fixes to AsmEdit
and ResEdit, plus added a couple of features.

New features:

The Tree, List, and Properties windows text
and backgroung colors are independent of the
Edit window. The settings are in the Change
Font And Colors dialog.

If your system supports the Mouse Wheel the
Ctrl/Mouse Wheel should size the font and
character format properly. You can turn the
feature off in the Change Font And Colors
dialog.

Download both FixAsm.zip and FixRes.zip
dated 06-11-2002.

Hi,

More fixes and updates.

AsmEdit:

Should now support Chinese and Korean charecter sets for syntax highlighting.
Rewrote some of the syntax highlighting routine.
_xxxx, _xxxx_xxxx, etc. will highlight properly now.
Italic comments option.
Changed auto save on open to number the saved files. (son-father-grandfather, etc)
Added a system information dialog. (You might want to see if it displays properly)

TIP! If you have a large .asm file opened with the Properties list opened you might
want to turn off the Auto Refresh Properties List, otherwise pasting and typing is
a little slow.

ResEdit:

ResEdit now has a 512 byte limit for static text.
Found and fixed one nasty and a couple minor bugs.

Download both FixAsm.zip and FixRes.zip.
Dated 06-18-2002.

http://asmedit.massmind.org

Do the normal thing except copy the LangCode.txt to AsmEdit's HelpFiles folder.

Thanks,

Hi,

More updates.

AsmEdit:

No fixes just some subtle changes.

ResEdit:

Will now retain the last Resource or Binary files directory so on
the next open it will open to that directory.

ToolBuild:

You now have the option of selecting any of the EX, WS, CCS, or TBS styles.
You can have a Left, Top, Right, or Botton Toolbar.
You can have Image, Image and Text, or Image only.

---------- ----------
You can create the code for a Customizable Toolbar.

Note! You can test out the Customizable Toolbar without building
the code.

To test it select Customizable Toolbar, press Build, then db click on
the Toolbar.
Before you press Build you can select any of the other styles, but
don't add too many more Buttons, because I got tired of working on
the code and it may not work properly.

But you will be able to see the Notify code thats necessary for
a Customized Toolbar.

There is a Template.asm, Template.rc to insert generated code
into and a test program ToolTest22 that was built from ToolBuild
with Toolbar Customizing.

Download both FixAsm.zip and FixRes.zip and the ToolBuild.zip from
the support programs group. (The ToolBuild can be run standalone)
Dated 06-24-2002.
