im working on a process killer for all windows version.. i can get it to work fine on win9x but for some program on nt/2k the programs are started as services and cant be ended with terminateprocess.. is there another way to stop the process with and invoke call in masm? the only thing i can think of is to shellexecute 'net stop file.exe' cananyone help me out here? thanz :stupid:
You have to interface to the SCM (Service Control Manager), and request the service to shut down thru there. There is billions of examples of this in C floating around, and from memory Matt Pietrich also did a column or two on it.
