Does anyone know where i could find a simple implimentation of a raycasting engine for masm like source or a tutorial. i understand the whole concept of raycasting but i don't see how these people implement this idea.

Well i have seen some examples on GameDev and FlipCode also on ProgrammersHeaven.

But did you mean raycasting? aka Wofenstein/early Doom techniques or newer terrain Voxel engines
or did you mean RayTracing?

I ask because i am working at a small raytracing tutorial/example in asm right now ... it should be reay in a few days with (naive) sourcecode :)

I am fighting with UV maping a texture on a sphere right now...

yes exactly like the doom wolfenstien technique. And im glad to hear your doing a raytracing tutorial because i hear that is a great way to create very nice images anyway good luck and ill be looking forward to your great tutorial.
