Matthew and mob please accept my sincere apology for any wrong doing on my part.

Yes mob, I now see why your method is better. I am new to asm so I think more in terms of traditional C type syntax. I am more comfortable with using an if structure right now but yes, later I will get used to this and take a more asm'ish approach.

it's ok you don't have to excuse... don't take
my posting serious, i was in a bad mood :)
this is a masm forum so nobody get's mad coz
you're using .if-then-else structures... btw in
the most cases they're translated very good.
so my intention was only to Point out that it's
senseless to xor ebx and use it to compare,
especialy for a newbie that don't know the
api-call-register-preservation rule- i assume :)
