Hi All, ( First Post)

UPDATE TO THIS MESSAGE: Oops, isn't it always the way. I spent several hours searching before posting this message, posted it, and then read the readme in the Source Folder. Problem solved!

In passing, can I say a big thanks to Hutch and Iczelion for there tremendous jump start into Win32 Asm programming. Thanks very much!

------- Original posting ----------
I am working through Iczelion's tutorials.

On the Simple Menu, we create a Resource file (RC) - and... I don't know how to get it into the loop. I am assuming a Resource Compiler is required. Is there a Resource Compiler for MASM32 freely available?

Thanks for any help.

If you installed Masm32 in its default location (C:\Masm32), then the resource compiler is located at C:\masm32\Bin\Rc.exe, to make the Tutorial 8-1 (menu) you can use the following steps in a DOS Box:

Cd C:\masm32\Icztutes\Tute08-1\
Ml /c /coff /Cp Menu.asm
Rc Rsrc.rc
Link /SUBSYSTEM:WINDOWS /LIBPATH:C:\Masm32\Lib Menu.obj Rsrc.res

Kool. I didn't know you could link a .RES file directly, without running CVTRES first.

Thanks rir3760!

S/390,

There is a trick to it, LINK calls CVTRES if you use a RES file at the end of the link line, explicitly using CVTRES gives you a bit more control over what you are doing although it does not matter much.
